Throughout the year, we run Introduction to Community Interpreting in Refugee and Asylum Seeker settings training courses. These courses cover the basics of what a Community interpreter is, guidelines, challenges and techniques as well as practice and professional interpreter shadowing time.
All of our interpreters have completed the course and we do not employ anyone who hasn’t taken part. This gives us and our clients reassurance that they will be getting an interpreter who has been trained to the same high standards.
Although based in Nottingham, we have often received applications for training from all over the country so an online training course has always been on the cards. Recent events have encouraged us to speed up these plans and we have recently started a continuation of our last course online. Unfortunately, when the Lockdown occurred, we were halfway through. Although we all hope to be able to meet in person sometime soon, we agreed it would be a great idea to finish this course online and use it as a trial run for the future. It was lovely to see all our trainees again and we are now continuing weekly.
If you would be interested in taking part in an online training course, or if you would like to know more, we would appreciate your thoughts so we can work out a programme to suit everyone.
We would appreciate it if you could fill out a quick survey at the link below. If you are interested, please leave your contact details so we are able to contact you.
Please go ahead and share this with family, friends, colleagues and anyone else who may be interested.
In the meantime, you can keep up to date with what we are up to by following us on our social media pages!
