Excitement is building up ahead of the next Community Interpreting course starting on Monday 23rd June. It is also a great time to reflect back on the achievements of the last cohort of trainee interpreters, who had their graduation celebration last month.

19 interpreters covering 14 different languages attended the 20-hour course in April. The interpreters particularly valued learning about the cardinal rules and opening statement, enjoyed role play and even found pop quizzes useful to reflect on their learning.

“The part where participants could role-play through scenarios was very practical, and it provided a truly hands-on experience.”

On 14th May we finally celebrated their achievements and handed out certificates to those who successfully completed all final assessments. Congratulations! We look forward to many of you joining our team of volunteers and freelancers!

“I want to thank you everyone who has supported and encouraged me while I was learning, you gave me hope. Now I can finally believe myself and I believe I can make it better next time. Thanks to my teachers, I'm proud to be part of the team.”

Here are a few photos from our graduation party in May:

Our upcoming summer interpreting training course at Nottingham Central Library is now full, but you can still apply to join our online course in August!
